Take-Two dates the last call before GTA6
Take-Two reports on 9 November, ten days before launch. The quarter it covers holds 97 of the 147 days of the pre-order window.
Take-Two published the date on 13 October at 8:00 a.m. Eastern: results for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, the quarter ended 30 September 2026, after the market close on Monday 9 November, with a conference call at 4:30 p.m. Third-party calendars had been carrying 11 November for this quarter, and at least one still does while labelling that date “Confirmed” on a page that says in the same breath it is estimated from the company’s previous reporting schedules. Both readings cannot be right. One of them is a company release with a dateline and the other is an inference wearing a label, and the company’s is two days earlier.
Ten days separate the call from the launch on 19 November, but the more useful measurement is what the quarter being reported contains. Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June and the quarter closed on 30 September: 97 of the 147 days that run to launch. The remaining 50 hold the 12 November pre-load, the 19 November release and every sale made in the game’s first week, and they fall into the third quarter of fiscal 2027, which ends 31 December 2026 and will not be reported until the following results release — last year’s equivalent came on 3 February. So the figures published on 9 November describe a campaign that has not finished, and the quarter containing the launch becomes a separate announcement in 2027.
What the release will not contain is a Grand Theft Auto VI number. Take-Two reports net bookings for the company, and its first quarter of this fiscal year came in at $1.39 billion, slightly above guidance, with a reiterated fiscal 2027 outlook of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion and the game named in the chief executive’s comment as the reason for it rather than as a line of its own. Its releases carry no per-title breakdown, and the publisher has never published a sales figure for a game before it ships. The pre-order totals circulating now — millions of copies, hundreds of millions of dollars, an extrapolation to launch — come from an analytics firm’s estimate rather than from the company, which is why this site has not carried them.
There is a second reason to mark 9 November, and it is the document this site has been pointing at since 3 October. Take-Two’s Form 8-K for 30 September describes a new long-term Xbox publisher licence agreement with Microsoft — signed 28 September, effective 17 September, and superseding all of the company’s existing Xbox publisher licence agreements — and then declines its terms in a single sentence: the description “is a summary only and is qualified in its entirety by reference to the text of the Agreement, which will be filed as an exhibit to the Company’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ending September 30, 2026.” That period is the quarter being reported on 9 November, so the date the company has just published is also the date the agreement’s text falls due. The summary is not empty, though, and one line of it is the important one: Microsoft pays the wholesale price or an agreed revenue share on digitally delivered products, and charges Take-Two fees and royalties for each physical product manufactured on its behalf.
What that exhibit can settle is a name. On 7 October, after the 8-K was filed, this site wrote that the question to bring to the filing was no longer how long an exclusive runs but whether this game is named in it at all, and that has not changed: an agreement covering all Xbox devices may or may not carry a product schedule, and the summary declines to say. The game’s own row on the publisher’s quarterly line-up table still reads PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For a buyer nothing on the list moves — 19 November, pre-load on 12 November, $79.99 and $99.99, and a retail box holding a download code rather than a disc. The 9 November report is worth watching for what it is required to carry, not for what anyone expects it to say.
