GTA6 Release Date: November 19, 2026
The official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA6) is November 19, 2026. This date was confirmed by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick at the company's Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026, and is embedded in Take-Two's official financial guidance of $8.0-8.2 billion in net bookings for fiscal year 2027.
How Was the Release Date Confirmed?
The November 19, 2026 release date came after months of speculation. Originally, GTA6 was expected to launch in the 2025 fiscal year, but Take-Two pushed the date back in early 2026. At the May 2026 earnings call, Zelnick stated: "Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI." He also confirmed explicitly that the game would not be delayed again.
Sony has confirmed a promotional partnership with Take-Two for the GTA6 launch. Both Sony and Microsoft have reportedly been formally notified that the November 19 date is firm, and development is in the final polish phase as of March 2026.
Platforms at Launch
GTA6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There are no plans for PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions — the game is built specifically for current-generation hardware to take full advantage of the RAGE 9 engine's capabilities.

Will There Be a PC Version?
A PC version has not been officially announced. Based on Rockstar's historical release pattern — GTA5's PC version arrived 18 months after consoles, and Red Dead Redemption 2's PC version arrived 13 months after consoles — a GTA6 PC version is expected within 12-18 months after the console launch, likely in late 2027 or early 2028.

Why Is GTA6 Taking So Long?
GTA6 is the first mainline Grand Theft Auto entry since GTA5 in 2013 — a 13-year gap. Rockstar has stated that the extended development time is necessary to achieve the level of detail and polish expected from a flagship title. The game features the largest open world in series history, a new engine (RAGE 9), and the first female protagonist — all of which require significant development effort.
Additionally, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that GTA6 will contain zero generative AI content, emphasizing Rockstar's commitment to handcrafted quality over automated shortcuts.
