GTA6 FAQ — Release Date, Platforms & Story
Here are the most common questions about GTA6. If your question isn't listed here, check our news page for the latest updates.
Does GTA6 have microtransactions?
No — Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed there are "no monetizations in this game." That covers the single-player campaign launching November 19, 2026. Rockstar declined to comment when asked about the next GTA Online, so the promise does not extend to the multiplayer mode. The In-Game Purchases notice that appeared with the game’s age rating on 1 October 2026 is a separate and narrower claim, and it is not evidence of campaign microtransactions: the ESRB label covers extra content, upgrades, subscriptions and virtual currency, and the store listing read on 2 October 2026 already sells a separate Ultimate Edition upgrade, which is one paid extra that would satisfy it without any online mode. The same record carries no user-interaction marker at all, where GTA5’s records carry both In-Game Purchases and Users Interact.
Does GTA6 use generative AI?
No. Rob Nelson told creators at Rockstar North there is "no AI" in GTA6. The New York Times reported the game contains over 600,000 hand-made animations, versus roughly 55,000 in GTA5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2. Take-Two does use generative AI for internal efficiency work, but not for shipped content.
How long is the GTA6 campaign?
Rob Nelson said his own playthrough ran around 80 hours including optional objectives with narrative consequences. That is roughly double the 30-40 hours typical of previous mainline GTA games, though Rockstar has not published an official figure.
Are there GTA6 limited edition controllers?
Yes. Sony revealed two GTA6 DualSense Wireless Controllers on September 3, 2026 — a White Limited Edition and a Black Limited Edition, both $84.99. Pre-orders open September 10, and they launch November 19 alongside the game. The Black edition is a PlayStation Direct exclusive in most major regions.
How many weapons can you carry in GTA6?
Two concealed handguns at all times, plus a maximum of two long guns — so one always rides on your back while you hold the other. Heavy weapons must be stored in a vehicle trunk or an Ammu-Nation locker, and stolen cars do not keep your loadout the way a personal vehicle does.
Can you use public transport in GTA6?
Yes. Leonida has buses you board at actual stops, trains, taxis, and a ride-hailing app called RydeMe. Free roam has no region locks once it opens, with unexplored map hidden behind fog of war.
Does GTA6 have a karma system?
Yes. Rockstar confirmed a Karma system for GTA6 in the August 27, 2026 Extended Look — the first in series history. In the footage, a character gains positive karma by petting a dog while Lucia loses karma after fleeing a store robbery. Rockstar has not detailed how karma affects the wider game.
What is the Criminal Profile in GTA6?
The Criminal Profile is a new GTA6 system that tracks the crimes you commit in the open world. Committing certain offenses regularly shifts your profile in that direction. Rockstar has also confirmed you can improve it by correctly throwing trash into bins.
Is the 6-star wanted level in GTA6?
Yes — Rockstar confirmed in the August 2026 Extended Look that the six-star wanted level returns after being cut from GTA5. Police also no longer appear on the minimap; you must use the new Focus mechanic to find them, and escaping requires changing clothes, haircuts, or vehicles.
Does GTA6 have bullet time?
Yes. GTA6 features a Dead Eye-style Bullet Time mode similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. When activated, time slows dramatically and weak points on enemies — head, hands and joints — are highlighted for targeted shots.
Will GTA6 run at 60fps on PS5?
Rockstar has not confirmed a performance target for any console. What the 30 fps figure describes is a file, not a frame: both the 15 October 2026 launch trailer and the 27 August 2026 Extended Look are published by Rockstar as downloadable MP4s encoded at a constant 30.000 fps, 4K H.264 at around 70 megabits a second, with the encoder settings unchanged between the two. That is a distribution setting, and this site’s earlier reading that the August footage “appears to run at 30 FPS” was measuring it. Digital Foundry, analysing the launch trailer on 16 October 2026, puts the picture at “1440p upscaled to 4K (albeit with black bars)”, says it would “probably lean towards QSSR not being used”, and states that the animation pacing fault it found in August is absent — all as estimates read off a 90-second video. The Pro badge is thinner still: Sony’s product page lists “PS5 Pro Enhanced” with no criterion attached, and Rockstar’s own site contains the string “PS5 Pro” zero times.
Will GTA6 go on sale after launch?
Not anytime soon. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company preserves pricing, citing how long GTA5 held its launch price. Reports indicate GTA6 will remain at $79.99 (Standard) and $99.99 (Ultimate) through much of 2027, though individual retailers may offer limited discounts on physical copies.
When is GTA6 coming out?
GTA6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) has an official release date of November 19, 2026, launching first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are live since June 25, 2026. A PC version has not been announced but is expected to follow the console release.
What platforms will GTA6 support?
GTA6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version is expected after the console release. There are currently no plans for PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions.
Where is GTA6 set?
GTA6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The main city is Vice City (modeled after Miami), along with port towns, wetlands, tropical islands, and other diverse terrain.
Who are the protagonists of GTA6?
GTA6 features a dual protagonist system with Lucia and Jason, a couple. Lucia is the first female playable protagonist in GTA series history, and their criminal partnership is the core of the story.
Will GTA6 have an online multiplayer mode?
Rockstar has not officially announced GTA6's online mode details, but based on series tradition and job listings, GTA6 will very likely include an online multiplayer mode similar to GTA Online. Stay tuned for official announcements.
How big is the GTA6 map?
Based on trailers and available information, GTA6's Leonida state map is the largest open world in GTA series history, featuring cities, towns, swamps, islands, and more. Specific area measurements will be revealed around launch.
Will GTA6 come to PC?
Rockstar has announced no PC version and no date. What exists is a report and a track record. On 13 October 2026 GamesBeat reported, from four anonymous industry sources, that the PC version is planned for the first three months of 2027; Rockstar did not comment on the report. The publisher’s own announced line-up table, in Take-Two’s results release of 7 August 2026, carries a Platforms column that lists PC for NBA 2K27 and for Judas and lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for Grand Theft Auto VI. The track record for mainline games is 217 days from console to PC for Grand Theft Auto IV, 375 for Red Dead Redemption 2 and 574 for Grand Theft Auto V, so the reported window of 43 to 132 days after the 19 November 2026 launch would be the shortest of the four.
What game engine does GTA6 use?
GTA6 uses Rockstar's all-new RAGE 9 engine, with significant improvements in lighting, water effects, crowd density, and physics simulation over its predecessor. Visual quality approaches photorealism.
What is GTA6's age rating?
GTA6 is expected to receive an ESRB M (Mature 17+) rating, consistent with previous entries. The game contains violence, strong language, and adult content, and is suitable for players aged 17 and up.
Do I need to play previous games to understand GTA6's story?
No. Each mainline GTA game has a standalone story. GTA6 features entirely new characters and storyline, so new players can jump right in. However, familiarity with previous entries will help you appreciate Easter eggs and series traditions.
Is GTA6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. GTA6 is only coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced any PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions. The game requires current-generation hardware.
How much does GTA6 cost?
GTA6 Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Regional pricing varies — for example, in India the Standard Edition is priced at approximately Rs 5,999.
What are the GTA6 editions?
GTA6 has two editions: Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99). Pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack. The Ultimate Edition adds bonus vehicles, weapons, and exclusive in-game content. There is no Collector's Edition.
Will GTA6 have crossplay?
Crossplay has not been confirmed by Rockstar. GTA6 Online will support at least 32 players according to court documents, but whether PS5 and Xbox players can play together remains unconfirmed.
Who is Lucia in GTA6?
Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable protagonists in GTA6 and the first female lead in mainline GTA history. She is a Latina ex-convict from Leonida Penitentiary who partners with Jason Duval in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style crime spree.
Who is Jason in GTA6?
Jason Duval is the second playable protagonist in GTA6. He is an Army veteran turned drug runner who works for Brian Heder in Vice City's underworld. He is Lucia's romantic and criminal partner.
How big is the GTA6 map compared to GTA5?
Community estimates place the GTA6 map at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA5's map, making it the largest open world in Rockstar history. It features six distinct biomes and over 700 enterable interiors.
What is the GTA6 setting?
GTA6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The main city is Vice City (based on Miami), with additional regions including Grassrivers (Everglades), Leonida Keys (Florida Keys), Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga, and Ambrosia.
When do GTA6 pre-orders open?
GTA6 pre-orders went live on June 25, 2026. Both Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99) editions are available on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and major retailers. Pre-ordering includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Is there a GTA6 demo or beta?
No. Rockstar has not released a playable demo, a beta or a public test build of GTA6, and no public hands-on has been announced ahead of the November 19, 2026 launch. Preview sessions for press and creators have been watch-only walkthroughs guided by co-studio head Rob Nelson. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said on 16 September 2026 that the 27-minute Extended Look had "an element of tutorial baked in there", which suggests the presentation is intended to stand in for the tutorial a demo would normally provide. Any site offering a downloadable GTA6 demo is not Rockstar — Malwarebytes has documented fake demo pages delivering an information stealer.
Has Rockstar confirmed the GTA6 cast?
No. Rockstar has never officially named a single GTA6 cast member; Brian Heder's official character page credits no actor. Stephen Root confirmed to the Associated Press on 13 September 2026 that he is in the game — the first cast confirmation to come from a performer rather than the publisher — but he did not name the character, and reports identifying him as Brian Heder remain unofficial. Jason, Lucia and Cal Hampton are still attached only to widely reported, unconfirmed names.
Does GTA6 have a soundtrack album?
Yes. Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album with Atlantic Records on September 17, 2026 — 34 original tracks written for the game, released November 19, 2026, the same day as the game itself. Nine singles are on the official music page now; the other 25 are unnamed. Physical editions (CD $19.98, vinyl $49.98, limited liquid-filled vinyl $124.98) ship from November 20. The album is not the in-game radio line-up, six stations of which Rockstar revealed on October 8, 2026, and it is not the score either: the same page carries a separate Score section, which since the 15 October 2026 launch trailer names Justice as the composer of the original score while publishing no date, track count or listing for it.
Who hosts GTA6’s radio stations?
Rockstar has credited twelve in-game hosts and published no real names against any of them. They are El Martillo and La Gata on Cocoteo FM, MW and Delta Dawne on Back Country Radio, Burna and Palmsy on AfroBank FM, DJ Kerry and DJ Tom on The Chamber 106.6, Robyn and Alex on Flash FM, and Trick and Trina on Dirty South Classics. The real names in circulation come from reporting and from the artists: Pitchfork names Bad Bunny and RaiNao, Burna Boy and Palms Trax, Slayer’s Kerry King and Tom Araya, Robyn and Alex Consani, and Trick Daddy and Trina, and gives Back Country Radio to Morgan Wallen, Lana Del Rey and her husband Jeremy Dufrene. RaiNao has commented to Pitchfork, Lana Del Rey to Rolling Stone and Burna Boy to Hypebeast. Rockstar’s own music page does print real names, but only as song credits in each station's preview.
Can you listen to the radio on foot in GTA6?
Rockstar says yes. The October 8, 2026 reveal describes radio and a new set of on-demand podcasts playing through headphones or earbuds connected to Jason and Lucia’s in-game phones, so audio continues after you leave a vehicle — which in this series has always ended the station. In every earlier Grand Theft Auto, radio was tied to the driver's seat. The line calling the podcasts a first for the series appears in Rockstar’s announcement rather than on the music page, which lists the stations and the album. Rockstar says more is coming; on 15 October 2026 it named Justice as the composer of the original score, and has published no date, track count or listing for the score itself. GTA6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
How many radio stations does GTA6 have?
Six have been revealed out of an unpublished total. Rockstar says the line-up is its biggest and widest-ranging yet, spanning “from Classic Rock to Talk Radio”, but neither of those two genres is among the six stations named on October 8, 2026: Cocoteo FM (modern Latin), Back Country Radio (country), AfroBank FM (African), The Chamber 106.6 (metal), Flash FM (pop) and Dirty South Classics (Southern rap and hip-hop). GTA5 launched in 2013 with 17 stations — 15 music channels and two talk stations — and roughly 240 licensed songs, which is the comparison a “biggest yet” claim has to beat. Rockstar has published no station count or per-station tracklist for GTA6.
When is GTA6 Online coming out?
Nobody has announced one. Rockstar has never confirmed an online mode for GTA6 and has given no date, name or price for one. The game launches as a single-player title on November 19, 2026, with no co-op or multiplayer at launch. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said at the company’s annual meeting on September 17, 2026 that Take-Two will keep supporting GTA V Online, without saying for how long. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in a Bloomberg interview the same day that he expects multiplayer to arrive in 2027 — that is his forecast, not a Rockstar announcement. For scale, GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA5.
Is the September 2026 GTA6 leak real?
The 192GB Rockstar archive that surfaced on September 18, 2026 is genuine stolen material, but it is not a new breach and it is not the game. Insider Gaming traced it to the September 2022 intrusion by Arion Kurtaj of the Lapsus$ group, and the GTA6 files inside it are 2022-era map assets rendered at low quality. Almost everything verified so far is cancelled GTA V content: a scrapped Liberty City expansion, the shelved Agent Trevor DLC and cut missions. Rockstar and Take-Two have made no statement on its reappearance. It is a separate leak from the Cyberleek footage posted in August 2026, which Take-Two has pursued through DMCA subpoenas in New York. Nothing in the archive describes the build shipping on November 19, and file dumps circulating with leaks of this kind have a long record of carrying malware.
How many NPCs are in GTA6?
Rockstar has never given a number. The only animation figure it has published is over 600,000 animations in the game, against roughly 55,000 in GTA5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2 — a total for the whole game covering player movement, cutscenes and animals as well as pedestrians, not a crowd count. What Rob Nelson has confirmed is that NPCs show wider height and body-shape variation than in any previous Rockstar game, achieved with a system that retargets animations at runtime to the proportions of the character performing them. Rockstar calls it the most densely populated world it has built, but has attached no figure to that.
What time does GTA6 unlock on release day?
Not at one global moment, and not at your own local midnight either. The unlock follows the store region: Microsoft's catalogue carries one instant per market, each falling on midnight in that market's reference time zone — 05:00 UTC for the United States, which is 12:00 a.m. in New York and 9:00 p.m. on 18 November in Los Angeles, and the same instant for all of Canada. New Zealand opens first at 11:00 UTC on 18 November, 18 hours earlier; Mexico City is last among the markets read, at 06:00 UTC on the 19th. Digital pre-loading opens November 10. Rockstar has published no unlock table and no explanation for rolling the release, and PlayStation's per-market instants have not been checked. On Xbox, changing the console region to New Zealand brings the unlock forward; on PS5 entitlement follows the account's store country, so the same move does nothing.
How much storage space does GTA6 need?
Rockstar published the first official figure on 3 November 2026: up to 212 GB of available storage, depending on the device. Sony states the same number from the other direction — “Get ready by clearing a minimum of 212GB of storage space on your PlayStation 5” — and lists the window as a 9-Day Pre-load opening on 10 November 2026 at midnight local time. Read together, the two documents put the PlayStation build at the top of the range and at least one Xbox model below it, but no per-model Xbox size has been published. At 212 GB the install is close to a third of the 667 GB usable on a launch PS5 and 58 per cent of the 364 GB on a Series S. Whether the number already includes the day-one patch is unknown.
Was GTA6 playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026?
No. Sony's PlayStation booth at TGS 2026 (17–21 September, Makuhari Messe) ran the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look Theater — a 300-inch screen showing the roughly 27-minute Extended Look with Sony floor haptics — alongside four hands-on demos for other games: Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Marvel's Wolverine and Ace Combat 8. GTA6 was not among the playable titles. Visitors who sat through the screening were given a free GTA6 T-shirt, size L only, and the giveaway hit capacity about ten minutes into the first public day. Rockstar has never offered a public hands-on for GTA6.
Can you mod GTA6?
Not yet, and not on console. GTA6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no PC version confirmed, and modding needs a build a player can open. Rockstar published formal mod guidelines in September 2026 that also bar modifying a Rockstar game to run on hardware or platforms Rockstar never released it for, which rules out the console route. The same page leaves single-player mods that respect other people’s IP alone, including disabling anti-cheat in Story Mode, but prohibits mods that extend official stories, cross-title mashups, paid mods outside Rockstar’s Creator Platform, and crypto or real-money gambling in mods.
Is the GTA6 album vinyl sold out?
Partly. The $124.98 limited edition of GTA6: The Album — two transparent magenta records filled with blue liquid — sold out on the official store’s UK and EU storefronts shortly after pre-orders opened on 17 September 2026, while the US and international USD storefront still listed it at $124.98. The $49.98 standard vinyl and the $19.98 CD remained in stock. Resale listings for the limited edition have asked upwards of £300 against £108.99 UK retail, but no completed sale has been documented, the records do not ship until 20 November, and retailers still carry their own exclusive pressings.
Why is Take-Two removing GTA6 leak videos?
Because the material is copyrighted and was obtained by breaking in, not because the videos spoil GTA6. On 21 September 2026 Take-Two began having YouTube videos and social posts removed over the 2022 archive that surfaced on 18 September. The one strike with a named victim, reported by creator TJGM, hit a video containing a file list, a fan-made visualisation and a single line of cut GTA V dialogue — no GTA6 asset at all, which is consistent with how copyright enforcement works: a rightsholder that ignores a known infringement weakens its later claims. A takedown removes copies from platforms, not the archive itself. Take-Two has made no public statement, and how many videos were affected is not known.
Is there a GTA6 Collector’s Edition?
No. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection went up for pre-order on 24 September 2026 at $399.99 in the US and £349.99 in the UK, and it contains 11 physical items with no copy of GTA6 and no download code — Rockstar’s own listing says the game is sold separately. It ships on 19 November 2026, the day the game unlocks, in limited quantity. There is no boxed edition with a disc either: the Standard Edition’s physical release holds a download code, and the Ultimate Edition is digital only.
Why are GTA6 pre-orders so skewed toward PS5?
Mostly because there are far more PS5s. Sony reports 95.3 million PS5 shipments through 30 June 2026, and third-party trackers put Xbox Series X|S near 35 million, a hardware base of roughly 73 to 27. Sensor Tower’s pre-order tracker puts the split at 74% PlayStation against 26% Xbox in its 20 October 2026 update, up from 77 to 23 on 18 August — within one point of Xbox’s share of the hardware, so the skew is real but close to what ownership alone predicts. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said on 24 September 2026 that Xbox’s share of pre-orders was matching its share of the console market, without publishing numbers, and did not dispute the skew. Neither Sony, Microsoft nor Take-Two has released verified pre-order or sales figures.
Who is paying for the Welcome to Vice City sign in Miami?
Rockstar pays the county, not the sign. Miami-Dade County is collecting $975,000 from Rockstar under a marketing agreement for the giant “Welcome to Vice City” lettering that a helicopter placed on the roof of the county-owned Kaseya Center on 22 September 2026. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava signed the agreement using her delegated authority for contracts under $1 million, so it never went to a county commission vote. The county intends to put the money towards developing Parcel B, the waterfront lot behind the arena, which has been promised as public space for years. The sum is therefore county revenue rather than Rockstar’s advertising budget: the cost of fabricating, lifting and later removing the sign has not been published. Documents seen by IGN give the sign a term of the later of one year from installation or the Miami Heat’s final home game of the 2026-27 season, on 11 April 2027, and an installation deadline of 15 October 2026.
Can you lose money in GTA6?
Yes, if you are carrying it. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, described the system to the French magazine Trois Couleurs: GTA6 keeps a bank account and a separate amount of money on the character, and money you have not deposited disappears if you are killed. Depositing at an ATM is the protection, and it applies to both Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has not said whether the loss is capped, whether every death triggers it, or whether banked money can pay for everything cash can. The loss matters more than it would in an older GTA because money also gates main-story progress — some missions need a set amount of capital before they unlock — and because the campaign has no repeatable high-paying job to rebuild a balance quickly. The system has been described in interviews only, not shown in the Extended Look, so the tuning is not final before the 19 November 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Why is GTA6 missing from the Golden Joystick Awards?
Because the ceremony happens before the game is out. The Golden Joystick Awards 2026 shortlist was published on 25 September 2026 with GTA6 in no category: the ceremony is in London on 11 November, eight days before the 19 November launch, and voting in most categories closes on 23 October, with Ultimate Game of the Year voted on between 26 and 30 October. GTA6 will be eligible for the 2027 ceremony. Only two games have ever won all five major Game of the Year awards in their release year — Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — and both came out in the first half of the year, which a November launch makes impossible.
Is GTA6 eligible for The Game Awards 2026?
On the show’s usual rule, yes — by one day. The Game Awards 2026 takes place on 10 December 2026 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and the eligibility cutoff has for years been the Friday of the third week of November: 21 November in 2025, which makes 20 November the equivalent date in 2026. GTA6 releases on 19 November 2026, one day inside that window. Two caveats. The show has not published its 2026 eligibility dates, only that they will be confirmed in the autumn. And the cutoff is not the binding constraint even so: the jury votes in the first half of November and nominees are announced in mid-November, so a game shipping on 19 November cannot have been played by the people nominating it.
Will GTA6 be censored in some countries?
Partly answerable now, and the answer changed in the first days of October. Read on 27 September 2026, the store record for Grand Theft Auto VI had every classification provisional: ESRB RP Mature (rating pending, Mature expected), PEGI 18P, CERO RP, the Australian board CTC and USK RP. Read on 2 October 2026, most of those fields have moved — the ESRB reads M, PEGI reads 18, the Australian board reads R18 and New Zealand reads R18 with descriptors attached — while CERO in Japan and USK in Germany still read RP. This answer previously said no region had a final classification; that was accurate on 27 September and is no longer. A final classification is not evidence that anything was cut, and a pending one is not evidence that anything will be: a board that has not decided has not decided whether an edited build is needed. The ESRB has published no record for the game, so the reasoning behind the seven American descriptors is not public, and its summary is the first place a cut would become visible when it appears. The seven regional codes that appeared in the Rockstar Store backend for the physical PS5 version in late September are order and shipping data — the same layer that records weight and a one-per-customer cap — rather than a record of content. The one documented regional difference in the box is Japan’s: the download code in a Japanese copy expires 170 days after the 19 November 2026 launch. Note that an age rating is not a censorship decision, and the seven descriptors attached to this game are the same seven the ESRB gave GTA5 on all three of that game’s records.
Is the GTA6 Collector’s Box sold out?
No. Read on 27 September 2026, three days after pre-orders opened, the Rockstar Store’s US SKU for The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection still returned can_be_bought: true with one unit available per account, and the product page still offered an Add to Cart. The box ships on 19 November 2026, the day the game unlocks, so no buyer has one yet. The eBay asks of $600 to $1,750 circulating since 26 September are asking prices against an open primary channel, with no completed sale documented, and Rockstar’s one-box-per-customer rule bounds how many units any single seller can hold. The box contains 11 physical items and no copy of the game, which Rockstar’s listing says is sold separately.
Why is Take-Two’s stock falling before GTA6 even launches?
As of the close on 25 September 2026, Take-Two shares were $201.44 — about 13% lower than a month earlier and roughly 24% below the 52-week high of $265.94, with the market capitalisation at $37.67 billion. Read the numbers by their windows rather than by the “nearly $6 billion” headline: measured from the 52-week high the fall is closer to $12 billion, from the pre-leak level in mid-August about $8.7 billion, and the leak week alone roughly $3 billion. The coverage blames the timing of the online mode, the mid-August footage leak and the $399.99 Collector’s Box. The only figure with a company source is Take-Two’s own guidance of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion in net bookings for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2027, reaffirmed on 7 August 2026 — a year that a multiplayer launch in calendar 2027 would only partly fall inside. Of 29 analysts tracked, 28 rate the stock a buy and the average 12-month target is $286.44, about 42% above the price. Take-Two’s next results are due on 5 November 2026, fourteen days before the 19 November launch, and will contain no GTA6 revenue.
Will GTA6 have hurricanes?
Yes, and this answer changed on 29 September 2026. Rockstar is now on the record: in Game Informer’s issue 382, Owen Shepherd, the studio’s vice president of art for lighting and rendering, describes a weather system re-engineered to be “much more localized and persistent”, and tropical storms and hurricanes are confirmed to appear in the game. His description of a full storm: “Heavy clouds, strong winds, dense atmospherics, and a lot of rain combine so that everything is dripping wet, water is gushing off roof edges and lampposts, thunder rumbles, and flashes of lightning light up the clouds dramatically.” Weather is regional — sunshine in one part of Leonida with rain falling in another — and it leaves traces, so ground stays wet and puddles and rainbows appear after a storm has moved on. Two things are still unpublished, and both decide whether storms are a set-piece or a hazard: how often a major storm occurs, and whether weather affects missions or the story. Until the issue shipped, the only public text on the subject was the magazine’s cover-reveal post, written in the first person by its writer describing which features his interviews covered, which is why this site treated the 28 September hurricane wave as unsourced at the time. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026, inside the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs until 30 November.
Does GTA6 have fast travel?
Yes, through the ride-share app RydeMe. Game Informer’s issue 382, read on 29 September 2026, describes using RydeMe to reach another part of Leonida as a ride rather than a loading screen: you can talk to the driver and to other passengers sharing the trip, listen to radio stations carrying new licensed music, and scroll the in-game social feed on the phone while the car moves. Rockstar has also documented buses boarded at real stops, trains and taxis. GTA5 allowed unrestricted cab travel to any waypoint, while Red Dead Redemption 2 restricted fast travel to towns you had already visited. GTA6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
How do the police track you in GTA6?
Through a heat layer that records what officers actually know, not just how wanted you are. The markers, documented from the 27 August 2026 Extended Look and the July press sessions at Rockstar North, are camera footage, outfit, face, weapon, vehicle and whether Jason and Lucia were seen together, and each has a matching action that clears it — wipe the tape, change clothes, change your hair or mask up early, stash the gun, and ditch or respray the car. Splitting the two protagonists up during a chase is reported to remove a wanted star. Police and enemies no longer appear on the minimap; a Focus ability shows officers temporarily, including through walls. Star colours carry four states: solid for line of sight, flashing for contact just broken, hollow for a report with no description, and red for a search zone you are still inside. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson described the principle on the record to Trois Couleurs on 27 August 2026 — police know what you are wearing, but a car they did not see you take does not link to you — and hedged it himself: “I should be able to pass” is an expectation, not a guarantee.
Is Orlando in GTA6, and will there be a Disney World parody?
Rockstar has neither confirmed nor denied it. Asked directly in Game Informer’s issue 382, published on 29 September 2026, whether Florida’s central region — Orlando’s theme parks and the Space Coast — would appear in the game in some form, Rockstar’s senior vice president of environment art, Paul MacPherson, answered with a policy rather than a ruling: the team weighs the state’s landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, plant species and rock formations, then distils the list with design and narrative until it serves the game, “so, while we may not have those exact locations”, everything is geared to “that full Florida experience”. No attraction is named and none is ruled out — the wide headlines saying GTA6 “won’t include” Disney World or Universal are the relays’ wording, not Rockstar’s. The positive evidence is geographic, in the same feature: the real places Rockstar names are Miami, the Everglades and the Florida Keys in the south, and Panama City, Jacksonville, Ocala and the Florida–Georgia line — in-game, the Leonida–Gloriana line — in the north, which leaves central Florida in neither list, and none of the six confirmed regions stands in for Orlando. Precedent points the same way: the pier in GTA5 has a working roller coaster and Ferris wheel, but it is an attraction rather than a park, and GTA4’s Funland is closed and derelict. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
What is GTA6 rated?
Mature 17+ in the United States, and 18 in Europe and Australia. Rockstar’s own Grand Theft Auto VI page began showing the ESRB Mature mark on 1 October 2026, with seven content descriptors — blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol — and a single interactive element, In-Game Purchases. Read on 2 October 2026, the store record also carries final values for PEGI 18, the Australian R18+ and the New Zealand R18, where those same fields had read pending days earlier. The seven descriptors are word for word the set the ESRB assigned to GTA5 on all three of that game’s records, so they do not show that this game goes further than the last one: a descriptor is a category the board assigns, not an inventory of scenes. Two systems still read RP — CERO in Japan and USK in Germany — and the ESRB has published no record or summary for the game, which is the document that describes specific scenes. The Australian and New Zealand listings name sex scenes, where the American text says strong sexual content. The purchase label is separate from the descriptors: it covers extra content, upgrades and virtual currency among other things, and the block carries no user-interaction marker, which is the line the ESRB applies when players can meet each other. GTA6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Does Take-Two’s new Xbox deal cover future Xbox consoles?
The filing does not say. Take-Two disclosed on 30 September 2026 a new XBOX Publisher License Agreement with Microsoft, effective 17 September and signed 28 September, which grants the right to “develop, publish, have manufactured, market, advertise, distribute and sell XBOX compatible products for all XBOX devices” and supersedes and replaces all of the company’s existing Xbox publisher licence agreements. It names no console, no handheld and no game — GTA6 is not mentioned in it at all — and it never states how long the agreement runs beyond the adjective “long-term”. The full text is to be filed as an exhibit to Take-Two’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ending 30 September 2026, which is where a term, a royalty rate and any product schedule would appear. The filing does describe how money moves: Microsoft pays Take-Two the wholesale price or agreed revenue share for digitally delivered products, while Microsoft charges Take-Two fees and royalties for each physical media product manufactured on its behalf. GTA6 itself is announced only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching 19 November 2026.
Why did PEGI remove its GTA6 rating page?
PEGI has not said, and neither has Rockstar. A full listing for Grand Theft Auto VI appeared on the board’s site on 2 October 2026 carrying an 18 and a long written description of the game’s content, and by that afternoon the address returned a not-found notice; IGN, which read the page before it went, timestamped the removal to 2 October at 11:39 a.m. Pacific and reported asking PEGI for comment without getting a reply. The detail on the page mattered less than the coverage implied, because a PEGI entry is a four-section document rather than a badge — advice for consumers, a brief outline of the game, content specific issues and other issues — and the board’s live entry for GTA5, read on 4 October 2026, still prints scenes of torture, incendiary bullets that set characters on fire, the same two strong profanities and the production of methamphetamine in a lab. For a buyer the removal changes nothing: the UK and European badge was already PEGI 18 in the store metadata read on 2 October, and GTA6 still launches 19 November 2026 with pre-load from 10 November. What it does change is whether the wording can be checked at its source, because PEGI’s public search returned 51 results for “grand theft auto” on 4 October 2026 and none of them was Grand Theft Auto VI, while the ESRB register holds no record for the game either.
Has Sam Houser given a GTA6 interview?
No, and the one that was arranged has been cancelled. On 3 October 2026 the GQ writer Sam White said publicly that a profile of Rockstar co-founder and president Sam Houser would not happen, after four years of conversations with the company, a confirmation from Rockstar in April that Houser would sit for it, and a reversal in the past few weeks that he attributed to reasons that were “mostly personal”. Rockstar has issued no statement and no replacement has been announced, so the fact of the cancellation comes from the journalist and the reason comes from nobody. Sam Houser’s on-the-record interviews amount to a handful over more than two decades and almost all of them fall in or beside a launch window, such as the 2013 Sunday Times interview days before GTA5 shipped and an interview in Grand Theft Auto IV’s shipping week in 2008. For this campaign Rockstar has put its staff on the record instead: Aaron Garbut was named in Game Informer’s issue 382 on 29 September 2026, and Rob Nelson, Rupert Humphries, Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern, Alexa D’Agostino and the writing director James Horton were named or quoted in LOVE’s issue 27 from 2 October 2026.
Is Ambrosia based on a real place in Florida?
Rockstar’s own material does not name one, and the attribution now in circulation comes from a magazine. In a caption posted with the cover of LOVE issue 27 in October 2026, the magazine described Ambrosia as “Rockstar’s fictional sugar town drawn from Clewiston and Lake Okeechobee” — Clewiston sits on the south-western shore of the lake, in Hendry County — and the same passage lists a Vote Erin Henshaw sign sponsored by Allied Crystals, a campaign robocall, radio advertising and a political talk show. Read on 6 October 2026, the game’s official site has a page for the town under Only in Leonida, and its description puts Ambrosia “in the heart of Leonida” without naming any real place at all: across the official pages the words Florida, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Ocala, Panama City, the Everglades, Key West, Okeechobee, Clewiston, Daytona, Cape Canaveral and the Space Coast do not appear. So the location is official and the real-world comparison is not — it is a fashion title’s description of a town Rockstar made, published to promote an issue, and the fan wiki tracking the game already records it as the town’s basis. Rockstar’s named Florida references in this campaign have come from interviews: Panama City, Jacksonville and Ocala in the north, and Miami, the Everglades and the Keys in the south, which leaves the middle of the state thinly covered apart from that one caption. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Can you play GTA6 on PC at launch?
Not natively, and the cloud workaround reported on 6 October 2026 was closed off the next day. The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive game streaming rights to Grand Theft Auto VI, which would have let a PC, smart TV or phone play it without a console when it launches on 19 November 2026. On 7 October 2026 Matthew Ball, Xbox’s chief strategy officer, answered it directly on X: “the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”. The Verge then updated its own report to read the arrangement as “simply for Xbox console streaming”, which is the outlet’s reading of the denial rather than Microsoft’s wording and would mean the browsers and apps that normally reach Xbox Cloud Gaming cannot carry it. Either way, the position for a PC player is a double negative: Rockstar has never announced a PC version, and no cloud route to one is confirmed. Microsoft has also not said whether the game appears on Xbox Cloud Gaming at all, on which devices, or for how long. The hourly limits announced on 3 September 2026 still stand from November — 15 hours a month on Game Pass Ultimate, 10 on Premium and 5 on Essential, with extra time sold through the Xbox Store at a price Microsoft has not published. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with digital pre-load from 10 November.
Will GTA6 stream on Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch?
Microsoft has not said, and what it has said is a double negative. On 7 October 2026 Matthew Ball, Xbox’s chief strategy officer, posted on X that the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”, the day after The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive game streaming rights to Grand Theft Auto VI. That ruling-out covers two things — an exclusive arrangement, and streaming to PC — and states nothing about whether the game will be on Xbox Cloud Gaming at all, on which devices, or for how long. The Verge updated its own report to read the arrangement as “simply for Xbox console streaming”, which would leave browser and app access out, but that is the outlet’s reading of the denial rather than a Microsoft sentence. The one comparable filing is Take-Two’s Form 8-K of 30 September 2026 on its Xbox publisher licence, which defers the agreement’s full text to its quarterly report for the period ending 30 September 2026 without naming any game. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
What happens if you get arrested in GTA6?
You get the series’ traditional fail state and nothing more elaborate. Asked directly in IGN’s interview with Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, published in full on 7 October 2026, he answered: “If either of you gets arrested, it’s just ‘Busted,’ then it’s a restart, a respawn. As with previous games.” Across the whole transcript the words jail, bail, prison and court never appear, so no jail, court or bail system is described around the wanted mechanic. What the transcript does not state is what a bust charges: the phrase “as with previous games” points at GTA5, where a bust cost players cash and weapons, and Nelson never returns to the question. The same interview describes the shape of the police system — a crime is only reported when someone witnesses it or an alarm goes off, officers track the vehicle you are driving and whether Jason and Lucia are together, and changing outfits or splitting the pair up lowers their perception of you. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Did Rockstar confirm sex scenes in GTA6?
No, and the document the claim rests on does not contain the words. The story circulating on 9 and 10 October 2026 points at IGN’s interview with Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, published in full on 7 October 2026 — and that transcript, 10,463 words long, uses the words sex, sexual, nudity and intercourse zero times. Nelson’s only remarks on the subject answer a question about how games handle intimacy rather than about what this one shows: “physical intimacy is a huge part of a relationship, and so it has to be done right.” The transcript’s single use of the word “naked” is IGN’s own bracketed stage direction describing a character found in the shower when the player switches to him, and the reporter who wrote that line, Rachel Weber, has since published a correction stating that the camera angles kept his modesty intact and that the demo cannot establish what the finished game contains. The one document that does say “scenes of intercourse” is PEGI’s European listing for the game, which appeared on 2 October 2026 and was removed the same day. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Is the new GTA6 screenshot from a PS5 Pro?
That has not been established, and Rockstar’s own site does not settle it either. The rainy Vice City street published on 8 October 2026 alongside the radio reveal drew the question because of how clean its ray-traced reflections look. Digital Foundry’s Oliver Mackenzie, asked about it by a content creator, raised a debug photo mode and a mid-generation PlayStation devkit as possibilities and closed the question in the same answer: “it’s not really possible to tell.” Some downstream coverage reports it as a Digital Foundry finding rather than a possibility. Read on 10 October 2026, Rockstar’s official site carries the strings “PS5 Pro” and “PlayStation 5 Pro” zero times across its main page, its music section and its media section, and the platform selector those pages run on recognises only three values: ps5, xboxsx and rockstar. The one capture statement Rockstar has published covers a video rather than a still — the 27 August 2026 Extended Look is captioned “captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5” — and neither Sony nor Rockstar has published what the Pro hardware adds. GTA6 launches on 19 November 2026, 40 days out.
What GTA6 merchandise can you buy before launch?
Rockstar opened the Grand Theft Auto VI Collection at its own store on 8 October 2026, and it is sold there exclusively. Counted on the store’s own collection page on 10 October 2026, the line is 31 listings: 13 under Apparel, 8 under Accessories and 10 under Collectibles. Twenty-one of those listings are eight products in colourways — the Rockstar Games wordmark, GTA VI logo, Goodtime State and women’s cropped baby logo tees in black, blue and pink, one white Macca the Gator tee, two cap designs and a tote. The word screenshot does not appear on the page, where the store’s older Grand Theft Auto V, San Andreas, III and Vice City apparel is built on screen-printed screenshots. Nor do the names Jason or Lucia: the only character the page names is Macca the Gator, an alligator from a TV show inside Leonida. The priciest item, the Goodtime State – Vice City Collection box, lists eleven contents and states that the game is sold separately, so it does not include GTA6. GTA6 itself launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
How many editions of the GTA6 album are there?
Four physical editions, and the Rockstar Store files all of them under Collectibles rather than music: Exclusive CD, Exclusive Vinyl, Standard CD and Standard Vinyl, all listed beside the Zippo lighter and the keychain in the Grand Theft Auto VI Collection. Every edition carries the same 34 original tracks and the same six debut singles — Yung Lean’s That’s It with Future and Metro Boomin, Travis Scott’s RHYNO, Sexy Magic from CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso with PinkPantheress, Fred Again.. and Etienne de Crécy, Morgan Wallen’s Last Thing You Need, Rauw Alejandro’s Macacoa 2000, and Keith Richards’ Bright Lights, Big City. The exclusive vinyl is pressed on two transparent magenta discs with blue splatter and the standard on two standard-weight black records, so the premium buys colour and packaging rather than extra music. The listings also disagree on one credit: the standard CD and vinyl name a producer on RHYNO — Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo — while the exclusive pair prints the song with no producer. Read again on 16 October 2026, none of the four listings uses the word score, which Rockstar has since detailed exactly as far as a composer credit — Justice, named on its music page after the 15 October launch trailer — with no date or track count attached.
Who composed the GTA6 score?
Justice. Rockstar’s official music page carries a section headed Score with the line “Official Score by Justice”, added alongside its radio and soundtrack sections around the 15 October 2026 launch trailer, which debuts the duo’s standalone single “Flower in a Hurricane” with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard. That single is filed on the same page as a track from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album rather than from the score, and the album’s four store listings still name six debut singles without it among them. Rockstar has published no release date, track count, price or store listing for the score album, and says more information about the music, including the official score album, will follow later. GTA6 releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Has a playable copy of GTA6 leaked?
No complete playable build has been shown to exist. Rockstar confirmed the August 2026 leaked clips were genuine, and the 25-minute video published on 8 October 2026 is treated as authentic by the outlets that watched it, but the August material was reported to be an incomplete debug build that needs Rockstar’s own authentication server to run, and no evidence has been produced that any build reaches the credits. On 10 October 2026 the account calling itself Cyberleek said it would release a build containing the full story mode once its memecoin reached a $30 million market capitalisation — a level above the token’s own peak of about $25 million, set on 23 August 2026 — and named physical discs and a public apology as the only alternative. The clips it ties to lower thresholds, at $2 million, $4 million and $6 million, sit at levels the token has already traded at. Take-Two and Rockstar have made no statement about that post. GTA6 still releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with digital pre-load from 10 November and no announced PC version.
When do I have to claim the free month of GTA+?
It depends which store you bought from, and on the Microsoft side it also depends when you bought. Both the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store include one month of GTA+ with a digital pre-order of the Standard or Ultimate Edition, and both require the purchase before 19 November 2026 at 23:59:59. The PlayStation Store’s own offer block says the month “must be redeemed by March 31st 2027”, a fixed date, and that an existing subscriber’s month is added onto the current subscription. The Microsoft Store’s product description instead says it “must be redeemed within 180 days after placing your pre-order”, a window measured from the purchase — so a pre-order placed on the first day, 25 June 2026, had to be redeemed by 22 December 2026, while the same pre-order on PlayStation had until 31 March 2027, a difference of 99 days. A purchase on 19 November gets 131 days on PlayStation against 180 on Microsoft. The two clocks are equal for a pre-order placed on 2 October 2026. Both stores limit it to one redemption per account, both auto-renew at the regular monthly price once the free month ends, and the month applies to the existing GTA Online rather than to anything built for GTA6.
How much money can you deposit at an ATM in GTA6?
The only figure on the record comes from an unverified leak, not from Rockstar. A five-minute free-roam clip attributed to Cyberleek and posted on 11 October 2026 shows an ATM in Vice City displaying a $15,000 limit above a “Buckme” logo, read the same way by TwistedVoxel, The Daily Game, EpicFlix and PCGamesN. It is a deposit limit, which is not the number that decides the stakes: Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson has said cash on the character is lost if the character dies before depositing it, and neither he nor any store listing has given a ceiling on what a single death can cost. Nor has Rockstar confirmed the bank’s name, which a Chinese-language relay of a September asset dump gave as “BankMe” and the newer footage gives as “Buckme”. A build with a visible debug menu is not a specification, so treat the $15,000 as what the footage showed rather than what ships on 19 November 2026.
How big is GTA6’s marketing budget?
The only figure on the record is an estimate by a county commissioner, not a disclosure by Rockstar. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rene Garcia said in October 2026 that he had “done some research, and at least a minimum of $150 million, [Rockstar is] spending on marketing” — a remark made at the commission’s meeting in the week of 5 October while officials discussed the county’s own $975,000 agreement for the “Welcome to Vice City” sign on the Kaseya Center roof, and published by The Miamian on 9 October 2026 before it was relayed by aggregators on 12 and 13 October. Garcia did not say where the figure came from, no report has since added a method, and Rockstar and Take-Two have never confirmed a marketing spend. What that report actually covers is procedure: three commissioners moved to bar the mayor’s staff from negotiating further with Rockstar, a vote to end the talks was delayed, and the county commission decides on 20 October 2026 whether the mayor’s chief of staff may keep negotiating. Worth keeping alongside the number: the county’s $975,000 is one of two payments for the sign. Rockstar also paid the Heat affiliate that runs the county-owned arena, Basketball Properties Ltd, a separate “contribution” under a roof facilitation agreement, and the county’s own attorney says the county is not in possession of a copy of it. The mayor’s office defends the $975,000 as roughly $139,000 a month over seven months, within the range of an unexecuted FIFA World Cup 2026 proposal.
Do you need PlayStation Plus for GTA6?
Nothing in the game’s PlayStation Store listing requires it. Read on 13 October 2026, the compatibility block on the official product page for GTA6 has six lines — In-game purchases optional, Offline play enabled, 1 player, Remote Play supported, Vibration function and trigger effect supported, and PS5 Pro Enhanced — and the string “Online play” appears nowhere on the page, while the only mention of PS Plus is a footer link. The same store’s listing for Grand Theft Auto V reads “PS Plus required for online play” and “Online play required”, and Red Dead Redemption 2’s reads “Online play optional”, so the two older Rockstar entries both attach a subscription to their online halves and the newest one attaches none. This matches the game’s ESRB record, whose interactive elements carry In-Game Purchases and no “Users Interact” marker, where all three GTA V records carry both. Treat it as a description of the product on sale on 19 November 2026 rather than a promise about the franchise: PS Plus is required for online multiplayer on PlayStation generally, no online mode for GTA6 has been announced, and a requirement would arrive with one.
Is GTA6 coming to PC in 2027?
A report says the first quarter of 2027; no official document says anything. On 13 October 2026 GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release the PC version within the first three months of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources and with no comment from Rockstar. The reported window runs from 1 January to 31 March 2027, and its last day is 31 March — 132 days after the 19 November 2026 console launch, and the last day of Take-Two’s fiscal year, which its results release states as “Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2027”. The same release’s announced line-up table has a Platforms column that lists PC for NBA 2K27 and for Judas while the Grand Theft Auto VI row lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing about the report has been confirmed. Separately, the cloud streaming route to the game on a PC that was reported on 6 October 2026 was denied by Xbox on 7 October 2026: the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”, and a native PC build is not what that sentence addresses.
When is Take-Two’s next earnings report?
Monday 9 November 2026, after the market close, with a conference call at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Take-Two announced the date on 13 October 2026 for its second quarter of fiscal 2027, the quarter ended 30 September 2026. It lands ten days before GTA6 releases on 19 November, and the quarter it covers holds 97 of the 147 days between the opening of pre-orders on 25 June 2026 and the launch, which means the 10 November pre-load and the launch itself fall into the following quarter, ending 31 December 2026. Two things to expect from it: company-wide net bookings rather than a GTA6 figure, because Take-Two’s releases carry no per-title breakdown, and the Form 10-Q for the period ending 30 September 2026, which the company’s Form 8-K of 30 September 2026 says will carry the full text of its new Xbox publisher licence agreement with Microsoft as an exhibit.
How much did GTA6 cost to make?
Rockstar has never said, and the only audited numbers in the argument belong to one of its studios rather than to the game. Rockstar Games UK Limited, registered number 03312220, files full accounts at Companies House every year, and the set for the year ended 31 March 2025 — audited by Ernst and Young LLP and filed on 3 January 2026 — reports an average of 1,744 employees whose staff costs came to £363,099,000, against turnover of £508,868,000 that the company’s own strategic report describes as a “cost plus” recharge to its parent, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. That is one studio for one year, not a project budget, and the accounts name no title. Separately, in Bloomberg Businessweek’s making-of feature of 14 October 2026, Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar’s head of publishing, rejected the claim that the game cost more than the $1.5 billion it took to build Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, and gave no figure — so the denial sets a ceiling, removes the higher claims that trace to an unverified 2023 hacker message relayed in 2025, and leaves the $1 billion to $1.5 billion range reported from industry analysts by Business Insider in May 2026 untouched. Treat every single number for GTA6’s development cost as an estimate with no publisher behind it.
Why was GTA6 delayed?
Two delays, both attributed to polish, and only in October 2026 did Rockstar name a specific cause. The game moved to 26 May 2026 in a Newswire statement on 2 May 2025 and to 19 November 2026 in a second statement on 6 November 2025, the two dates 177 days apart, and neither statement gave an operational reason beyond needing more time for quality. In Bloomberg Businessweek’s making-of feature of 14 October 2026, development lead Rob Nelson described the projections for the game’s non-player character workload as “horrifying”, and the studio’s response was to open a dedicated Los Angeles studio staffed with writers, producers and directors; co-head of development Phil Hooker said the date moved when it became apparent that “some areas weren’t going to make it”, with non-player character capacity among them. The interviews do not say which of the two delays that work caused. The two Newswire statements remain the dates Rockstar has committed to, and the game is still listed for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with digital pre-load from 10 November.
What resolution is the GTA6 launch trailer?
The frame is 3840 by 2160; the picture inside it is not. Rockstar publishes the 15 October 2026 launch trailer for download at rockstargames.com/VI/media/videos, and the file served is 781,757,793 bytes. Read out of its container, the video track is 4K H.264 at level 5.2, 8-bit 4:2:0, running at a constant 30.000 frames per second across 2,675 frames and 89.167 seconds, at 69,921 kb/s. Decoded at full resolution, a frame carries 120 rows of black at the top and 119 at the bottom, leaving an active picture of 3840 by 1,921 — a 2:1 image inside a 16:9 frame, so roughly a ninth of the file is letterbox. Digital Foundry, which published its analysis on 16 October 2026, reads the rendered image as “1440p upscaled to 4K (albeit with black bars)”. None of this specifies the game. It describes how Rockstar exported a trailer, and the same settings appear on the 27 August 2026 Extended Look, which runs 1,608.067 seconds at the same 30.000 fps and the same 70 megabits a second.
