RAGE 9 Engine: GTA6 Graphics Tech Upgrade

GTA6 uses Rockstar's all-new RAGE 9 engine — another major upgrade to the RAGE engine. From the trailers, the visual quality approaches photorealistic levels.

The lighting system has been significantly upgraded with dynamic global illumination, volumetric lighting, and real-time reflections that make Vice City's neon nightscape especially stunning. Water rendering has also reached new heights with extremely realistic waves and reflections.

In terms of crowd density, the trailer shows crowded beaches and busy streets with NPC numbers and behavioral variety far exceeding previous entries, making the city feel more alive.

Physics-wise, vehicle collision deformation, character animations, and environmental interactions have all seen notable improvements, delivering a more immersive open-world experience.
