GTA6’s reported PC window ends on 31 March

Four anonymous sources put the PC build in Q1 2027. Its last day is 132 days after the 19 November launch, under anything Rockstar has shipped.

On 13 October GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI within the first three months of 2027. The sourcing is four industry sources, all anonymous and described as familiar with the studio’s plans, and a Rockstar representative did not respond to a request for comment before publication. That is a report rather than an announcement, and the difference decides what can be done with it. A claim about a quarter is two dates, and both can be checked against records the company has already published.

The record that matters here is Take-Two’s own results release for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, published on 7 August. It closes with a table of the company’s announced line-up, and the table carries a Platforms column. Grand Theft Auto VI’s row reads PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, dated 19 November 2026. Two other rows on the same page list the word PC: NBA 2K27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and Judas for PS5, Xbox Series X|S. The platform a reported port would arrive on is therefore not missing from the publisher’s vocabulary, it is missing from one row of a table the company files every quarter. That is a countable absence rather than a silence, and it is a stronger first-party statement than anything said in an interview.

Run the dates and the reported window is 43 to 132 days: 19 November to 1 January is its early edge, 31 March the late one. Rockstar’s own console-to-PC distances for the three previous mainline games are on the record. Grand Theft Auto IV reached PC on 2 December 2008 after a 29 April 2008 console launch, 217 days. Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on 26 October 2018 and reached PC on 5 November 2019, 375 days. Grand Theft Auto V launched on 17 September 2013 and reached PC on 14 April 2015, 574 days. The shortest distance from an original console launch to a PC launch on the same game is therefore 217 days, and the reported window’s last day is 85 days inside it. One tighter measure exists in that record: GTA V’s PC version arrived 147 days after the PS4 and Xbox One version, but that is a second console launch for a port already under way. Even read that way the reported ceiling is 15 days inside the studio’s best.

The other end of the window is not a game date at all. Take-Two’s release states the period it is guiding as “Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2027”, which makes the last day of the reported quarter the last day of the publisher’s financial year. The reported window is therefore the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027 to the day: the console launch, the pre-order campaign and a PC release inside it would all fall in one financial year, and a single day of slippage moves the port into fiscal 2028. The same date appears in another company’s paperwork, as this site recorded on 13 October — Sony’s storefront fixes 31 March 2027 as the deadline for redeeming the free GTA+ month that comes with a pre-order. Nothing in the report says the quarter was chosen for any of that, and this site will not supply a motive the document does not contain. The observation is that the outer edge of the window is a line on the publisher’s calendar rather than a line in the studio’s build.

One earlier statement has to be kept in its own box, because it is the only on-the-record sentence anyone in this story has said. On 7 October Matthew Ball, Xbox’s chief strategy officer, wrote that the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”, and this site read it as closing the single route to the game it had been able to cost out for a player with a PC and no console. That sentence is about streaming. A native build is a different product, so a named executive denying one route and four anonymous sources describing another do not contradict each other — the week produced one official statement about a route nobody had documented, and one undocumented report about a route nobody has announced. For a buyer on 19 November nothing moves: the game is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, digital pre-load opens on 12 November, the editions are $79.99 and $99.99, and the platform list that would change any of it is the publisher’s own, next due with the results for the quarter ended 30 September 2026.
